Hampered by strikes and picketing, carried on by orders from Portland in
defiance of Idaho courts, Boise employers sent a committee of five to
Portland to investigate and report.
As a result of the investigations
Boise employers declare the following program:
(a) That the employers of Boise
arc i ''arly and willing at all linnr,
to talk over labor problems and
conditions with their own employees at all reasonable times.

men of Boise will under no circumstances tolerate the unlawful
threatening and intimidation methods employed by certain alleged labor leaders from outside, within the
city limits.
(c) That the employers and business men of Boise will at all times
comply with the labor relations act,
and any other laws on the statute
book, and will expect any business
agent, organizer or union agitator
to do likewise.
(d) That the employers will
maintain the same friendly relationship that now exists between
employer and employee in Boise,
and that they will continue to operate on an open shop basis.
(e) That they will openly denounce and unfavorably publicize
any attempt on the part of organizers or agitators to force the employers in this community to sign
contracts against the wishes of
their employees, and will under no
circumstances, sign contracts unless
the employees signify their desire
that the employer do so.
Coercion Is Charged.
The committee reported that a
Portland house, completely unionized, was closed down by a strike
for the sole purpose of compelling
a Boise firm to require its employees to be unionized, although such
employees had unanimously decided not to become members of the
union involved.
