ALASKA LINE'S SALE IS PENDING--
Negotiations for nhe purchase of
Kennecott Copper Corporation's
Alaska Steamship Company by
Pacific American Fisheries, Inc.,
are continuing, an Associated Press
dispatch from New York today
Kennecott officials in New York
confirmed the pending deal but declined to say when it might be
completed, the Associated Press
Active negotiations, it was indicated, are proceeding and it was
expected an announcement would
be made in Seattle if the purchase
is effected.
The Alaska Steamship Company
is the owner of a fleet of twenty-
one ships engaged in general transportation and carrying Kennecott's
ores and concentrates from Alaskan
properties.
Pacific American Fisheries, rated
as the largest packer of salmon in
the world, operates three steamships and canneries and other
properties in Alaska and on Puget
Sound.
