ALASKA JUNEAU MINE
STRIKE STILL DRAGGING
JUNEAU, Alaska, June 22. (AP)—An
effort to break the Alaska Juneau
mine strike, now in its 31st day, was
taken last night by the city council
when it unanimously passed a resolution authorizing police protection
for those returning to work.
Mayor Goldstein said if the city is
unable to furnish proper protection
by calling on 500 special officers he
has been assured the United States
marshall would take over protection,
and if he failed, troops from Chilkoot
barracks would be called.
