TOWNS AT DAM SITE
TO HAVE POSTMASTER
COULEE DAM, Wash., Aug. 22.—
(Special.)—The towns "on the hill"
will have an official postmaster
shortly, according to an announcement today by Charles Kinnune, who
declared he had received his appointment as postmaster from Washington, D. C.
The postoffice will be officially
named "Grand Coulee," finally settling a long fight against suggestions
that the name be changed. No location for the office has yet been
decided upon, Kinnune said, but he
added that he is conferring with Albert A. Paisley, postoffice inspector
for this district, on the matter.
May Move Office.
With the department's approval on
$1000 bond sent in yesterday, Kin-
une will become the town's official
in Grand Coulee, Coulee Center and
Grand Coulee Heights.
The present postoffice at the dam
site, a mile and a half from town,
ill be moved eventually to the gov-
nment town site, it is believed. A
branch will probably be established
in the contractors' town across the river.
