NAMED ACTING POSTMASTER
Ira G. Allen to Succeed Resigned Officials at Pullman.
Pullman, Wash., May 21. - Ira G.
Allen, assistant postmaster for the
last three years, today received notice
of his appointment as acting postmaster,
vice G. W. Reed, resigned. Mr. Allen
has been in the mail service for
15 years and for several years was in
the railway mail service between
Spokane and Seattle.
Mr. Allen expects to take the
examination for the eligibility list for
appointment as postmaster, the dates
for which have not yet been set.
Postmaster Reed has held the office over
six years, having been in the middle
of his second term when he resigned.
