Who Kidnaped Him?
Who kidnapped the Lindbergh baby—and why?
Thousands of theories have been advanced.
If the baby was kidnapped for money, and that seems to be
the only reasonable motive, why haven't the kidnapers returned him and collected the ransom? Probably they are
now too frightened or too clumsy to complete the deal.
What other motive could there have been?
Someone might have kidnapped the child for a "thrill."
That anyone could go to such lengths even in this thrill-seeking age, seems preposterous.
Jealousy may have been the motive. The position of the
Lindberghs, their wealth and happiness, may have driven
some envious, half-mad person to kidnap their child.
Mother-love may have been the motive. Every day women
seek to adopt children. It is conceivable that some childless
woman fell in love with the baby, and felt, that she must have
it for her own.
Was the kidnapping done with the idea of benefiting the
kidnapers—or of harming the Lindberghs?
Who knows? Everyone in America is asking, "Who kidnapped the Lindbergh baby—and why?"
And so far one theory seems to be as good as another.
