The Committee of Industrial Organization is becoming a "hot bed
of communism," Dave Bock, coast
head of the powerful teamsters' union, declared last night in an address before the Knights of Columbus.
"I do not sav that John L. Lewis,
head of the C. I. O, is a communist," Beck said, "but he has lefi.
the door open for communists."
The C I. O. also is backed by
persons wishing to wreck the entire labor movement, Beck charged.
He condemned sit-down strikes as
"leading to revolution."
Replying to a speech by Harry
Bridges, coast head of the longshoremen's association here las',
week. Beck said: "I do not subscribe
in the slightest degree to the claim
that there is no place in the economic and social life of our country
for employers. Sound labor leaders
will try to find a common ground
of understanding between labor and
employers..
He said Bridges and "some other
so-called labor leaders are getting
too big for their pants."
