Slate patrol
and sheriff's officers today escorted five carloads of Filipinos, who
had been working on a Moxee district hop ranch, to the county line
and told them to keep going. The
"moving" resulted when 35 hop
pickers started a sit-down strike,
demanding $2 for picking 100
pounds of hops, instead of the $1.75
being paid.
"We are not going to stand for
anything like that among the transient workers. Either they will
work or get out," Deputy Sheriff
J. C. Bunce said.
