Spokane laundry and dry cleaning operators today issued a statement giving their reasons for opposing agreements with union of-
or a closed shop.
Local operators have granted
two substantial wage increases to
employees since the first of the
year bringing the wage minimum
to cents an hour above the
mum, the statement declared. Other wage adjustments
will follow in keeping with sane
business procedure, the secretary
of the laundry and dry cleaning
association said.
"Having made an investigation
of conditions in the laundry and
dry cleaning industry, we are convinced that our employees, the public and the city can best be served
intaining the open shop," the
stated.
