A cash reward of $500 was posted
yesterday by the Citizens' Protective association for the apprehension of the four men accused of assaulting Robert L. Purdum, employee of the Ideal laundry, in the
1400 block on West Alice yester-
"Such strong-arm tactics will not
go in Spokane," declared Lester P.
Edge, president of the association.
"This latest cowardly attack only
adds to the mounting sentiment for
the calling of a grand' jury investigation of racketeering methods
which outside forces are attempting to foist upon this city."
Police last night were seeking
the four men for the attack on
Purdum.
An appeal for public support of
the striking laundry workers was
made in a prepared radio address
last night by Albert Leslie, secretary of the Spokane Central Labor
council. He contended that if labor
lost the laundry strike it would encourage other employers to oppose
collective bargaining.
