Club at Garfield Takes First Prize in National Program Contest.
The Garfield Woman's club, Garfield, Wash., took first place in the national contest for program building for club programs recently awarded at the triennial convention of the General Federation of Women's Clubs at Detroit.
The Garfield program, devoted to home management, was the prize winning program for this state sent to the national contest. The committee in charge of arranging the program used this year by the study club were Mrs. Z. B. Katterle, Mrs. J. E. Trimble, Mrs. Gilbert Arland
and Mrs. G. M. Blount, all of Garfield, with the club president, Mrs. T. Warren Love.
The national contest was conducted by the general federation chairman of program building, Mrs. Harriet K. Sparks, Frankfort, Ind., editor of the
Indiana federated clubs' department of the Indianapolis Star.
The winning program was given first place, according to the judges, because of its completeness, comprehensiveness, remarkable organization,
valuable information, interesting, worth-while material and bibliography. The year's study and discussion outlined by the program included the home, its furnishing and care; the parents and child; finance, diet, leisure time; the home and the community.
