"Will Explain Project to
Noted Visitors.
Interest manifest by local busi-
ness leaders in the visits of two
nationally known men to the Columbia basin irrigation area assures the success of selling the
project to them, and through them,
to the east, Roy R. Gill said today.
"Thirty-five reservations have
been received for the dinner we will
give for Dr. Elwood Mead, commissioner of reclamation, who will be
here the last of this month," said
Mr. Gill, who is chairman of the
board of directors -of the Columbia
Basin Irrigation league.
"We are also sure of getting this
project across with B. C. Forbes,
the publisher of Forbes magazine
and an influential eastern financial
Gill continued.
Show Area From Plane.
"We have chartered a five passenger Buhl airplane from the
Mamer Air Transport company, and
will take off shortly after Mr.
Forbes arrives at 8:30 a. m. We will
fly toward Pasco, turn north over
Othello, view the Soap lake district,
circle the Grand Coulee, and then
double back over Spokane to Albany
Falls. That 500-mile trip will show
him everything in a few hours, and
that evening we will meet with him
for informal discussion at dinner."
The dinner will be given in the
men's section of the Spokane City,
club. The public, Mr. Gill announced,
is urged to attend.
Dr. Mead will arrive the evening
of July 31; he will spend four days
here, going over the project by auto,
and will visit the Takima project
when through here.
