CHINESE REDS BLOCKED
Those in Shensi Are Bottled Up in Mountainous Area.

SIAN, Shensi Province, China,
May 13.—Shensi provincial authorities believe the Central Government troops who expelled the Communists from Shansi will continue
their pursuit across the Yellow River into Shensi Province. It is pointed out that the bad terrain and lack of roads render the Reds in Northern Shensi virtually unable to move northward or southward, though it is comparatively easy for them to move eastward or westward in the deep valleys. About 7,000 Communist troops have already re-crossed the Yellow River into Northern Shensi and the authorities here declare the
provincial troops are sufficiently strong to maintain their east-west lines in Central Shensi and prevent the Reds from entering the southern part of the Province, where there are only a few small bands of Communists roving the mountainous districts.
