FARM STATION
WILL CONTINUE
LIND, Wash., March 18.—The
Lind branch experiment station of
the department of agriculture will
continue to operate for two years
more at least, according to information given out today by Harley
D. Jacquot, acting superintendent.
During the last year, because of
curtailed finances, much of the
work of the station was abandoned
and the institution would have
closed April 1 if the state legislature had not provided money to
continue it. The little work done
the last year was on $1000 from
Adams county.
The program of the station the
next biennium will stress soil conservation and the development of
a grass suitable for a cover crop in
arid regions to prevent erosion and
blowing. Experiments with wheat
for dry land farming will be continued and 40 varieties tested this year.
