ALASKAN TOWN IS SAVED
Firemen Rush Across Channel In Special Boats to Rescue.
JUNEAU, Alaska, Oct. 16. (/P) -- Juneau firemen who rushed the channel in special boats aided Douglas residents today in controlling a fire which for a time threatened to wipe out the town.
The fire, which was fanned by a high wind, destroyed a lodging house and spread to 11 other buildings. The additional fires, however, were extinguished before they caused any damage.
Seven lodgers asleep in the building escaped uninjured, but lost all their personal effects.
