TESTS UNDER WAY
FOR VALLEY DAMS
CORVALLIS, Aug. 11 (AP)—Laboratory testing work in connection
with the Willamette watershed survey which is part of the big Willamette valley project, has started
at Oregon State college with the
arrival of some 60 core samples
from proposed dam sites.
The engineering experiment station has entered a co-operative arrangement with the engineer corps
of the war department in charge of
the survey to conduct the testing
and analysis work at the college. It
will include testing materials for
earth filled dams, concrete aggregates rnd the drill cf es from foundation . itcs of proposed dams.
Objectives in the long-time project are flood control, irrigation and
drainage of farm lands, navigation
and betterment of the pollution
problem.
