Ragged baseball marked the opening game of the series, with the Pom-
eroy Pirates grasping the short end
of the score, 10-4. The Dayton Apple-
pickers weren't so much better as the
score would indicate. Since reasons,
or alibis are always sought when
things don't go as wanted, the best
explanation for the fiasco is undoubtedly this, the home boys need practice. Given the proper practice and
even breaks the Pirates will be able
to take care of their end of the games
in the future.
Decker for Dayton batted one out
of the lot, and Bert Richardson
clouted a two-bagger that did not
quite clear the fence. Tom Becker
for Pomeroy did a bit of pinch hitting, and hit the ball so hard he broke
the bat.
