Motor traffic moved over the Cascades between Eugene and Bend Friday as
federal, state and city officials from
the two cities exchanged greetings
on the snow-mantled summit of the
South Santiam highway.
From Eugene the greeting party
wound over the new Clear lake route
from the junction of the snow-
blocked . McKenzie highway to the
junction with the South Santiam.
Officials Make Journey
The representation was formed
by Perry A. Thompson, supervisor
of the Willamette forest; Percy M.
Morse, Lane county engineer; Raymond Walsh, district maintenance
engineer for the state highway department, and John F. Durr, secretary of the Eugene Chamber of
Commerce.
E. A. Collier, state highway division engineer from Roseburg, came
to Eugene to accompany the local
party over the route.
