LEE W. HAWKINS, EX-SOLDIER, DIES
Lee W. Hawkins, 607 Second Ave. N., 48-year-old former soldier, died last night at Marine Hospital after a long illness. Funeral services will be conducted by the American Legion at the Green Lake Funeral Parlors at 2:30 o'clock Saturday.
When an infant, Mr. Hawkins was brought to Seattle by his parents from his birthplace at Sabetha, Kas. He was educated at the Green Lake Grade School and the Lewiston (Idaho) High School.
After five years' service in the United States Army he returned to Seattle in 1920 and was employed in the mechanical department of the Great Northern Railway here until forced by illness to retire in 1928. In the Army he served two and a half years at Schofield Barracks, T. H., and two and a half years at Camp Grant, Ill.
Mr. Hawkins is survived by his widow, Mrs. Nellie M. Hawkins; a daughter, Patricia; his mother, Mrs. Calista Hawkins; a brother, John H. Hawkins, and a sister, Mrs. Maude Trenholme, all of Seattle; a brother, Frank Hawkins of Okanogan, and a sister, Mrs. Caroline Parker of Los Angeles.
