DR. T. E. HOXSEY DIES SUDDENLY
Dr. Thomas E. Hoxsey, 63, E425 Fourteenth, physician and surgeon here for 34 years, died last night at the Deaconess hospital. His death came as a shock to many friends, who were not aware he had suffered a serious heart attack about 10 days ago.
A blood clot near the heart was said to have caused his collapse.
Dr. Hoxsey was regarded as one of the outstanding physicians in this region, friends said. For many years he was in practice with his brother,
the late John H. Hoxsey, who was a physician in Spangle before he came, to Spokane in 1910.
A native of Illinois, Dr. Hoxsey was on the staffs of the Sacred Heart and Deaconess hospitals for years and also did considerable work at St. Luke's
hospital. Friends said that his untiring efforts on behalf of his patients undermined his health and he was seriously run down the last few months.
Dr. Silas Yarnell, who shared offices with Dr. Hoxsey, declared the latter had one of the largest general practices in Spokane and was liked by all. He belonged to the Masonic lodge.
In addition to his widow, Leita P., at the home, he leaves two daughters, Mrs. Ford S. Barrett, a recent bride, and Mrs. James Yenney of Olympia.
The body is at the Smith funeral home.
