PIONEER OF WEST IS DEAD
Mrs. Jane A. Jones Came to Washington in 1884.
Mrs. Jane A. Jones, a resident of Spokane for the last 13 years, died at her home, 1503 Jackson avenue, Tuesday. Mrs. Jones came to the west from Lime Springs, Iowa, with her parents, Morris and Jane Evans, in 1883, and settled in Prescott after a year in Miles City, Mont. The family later moved to Sprague when that city was a close rival of Spokane, where they were in the hotel business for a number of years.
It was there that she met and married David E. Jones, who survives her; and in 1911 moved to Spokane, which has been her home since.
Mrs. Jones was born August 1, 1870. She was a member of the Spokane Pioneer society as well as the American legion auxiliary and the women's auxiliary to the national guard.
Besides her husband she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. L. R. Double of Spokane; a son, Harry, an instructor at the University of California, and a brother, R. W. Richards of Seattle.
The funeral will be held from Smith & Co.'s tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.
