GUN SHOT KILLS
PULLMAN YOUTH
Funeral Services for Glidden Dow
Held Tuesday—Rifle Fired
When Boy Stumbled.
PULLMAN, Wash., July 5—Funeral
services for Glidden North Dow, 13-
year-old son of Attorney and Mrs. D.
C. Dow, who met a tragic death Saturday when an army rifle was accidentally discharged, sending a bullet
through his head, were held this afternoon from the Federated church and
were largely attended. The services
were conducted by the Rev. Clay E.
Palmer.
The fatal accident occurred when
Glidden was carrying the loaded gun
near a rifle range which had been constructed several years ago near the Dow residence, in the south part of town. It is presumed that he stumbled and in falling accidentally discharged the rifle. His body was found in the rifle pit at 8 p. m. by his father, who left the house in search of him when he failed to return for dinner. It is believed that the accident occurred early in the afternoon. The rifle ball entered the back of the head behind the left ear and, ranging slightly upward, went through the right side of the head, below the temple.
Glidden was an energetic and ambitious boy and passed into the eighth grade with the close of school last month. He was a member of troop No. 1, Boy Scouts. The member of the troop attended the funeral services in a body, as did the members of his Sunday school class. He is survived by his parents and four brothers and sisters.
