PROF. C. F. BENNETT, 57, DIES. Served Ministry on Coast and Held School Superintendencies.
PULLMAN, Wash., April 9.—Professor Chester Pitch Bennett, 57, died here yesterday of paralysis. He came here last September when his wife became proprietress of an apartment house here. Mr. Bennett was born in Indiana, the son of James Gordon and Elizabeth Pitch Bennett. He came west when he was 23 years of age and for 12 years served in the Methodist ministry of the Puget Sound conference, afterward serving several years in the Presbyterian church, including the pastorate of the First church at Vancouver, Wash. He also taught school, off and on, was principal of several schools and was a former superintendent of schools of Clark county. He also was superintendent of the Klickitat county schools, vacating that position to move here when his health began to fail. Besides his widow, May, he leaves three daughters. His funeral will be held Sunday, at Vancouver, Wash.
