Date | 1980-05-06 |
Description | 52 minute oral history with Ruth Glunk, conducted for a Women in the West (HST 398 course) at Washington State University. Discusses childhood on the family wheat farm, big vegetable garden, orchard and milk cows. Early education was in a county single room school until the eighth grade but did not finish high school. Chores on the farm were very gender restricted - girls washing, cleaning, cooking while the boys helped with the farm work, but milking cows was a chore for both. Discusses her brothers' lives and what they did. The wheat farm was sold during the depression. Discusses her marriage, Sunday drives with her family, her husbands family, her daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren. |
