Babysit for alot people and she was more older than her age when she marry. 214 Her husband was ten years older than her. And he a~tend Washington State and he was Sigmanue. He was a Pullman boy. 219 Work at Pullman at the large store they call those day Empire. Farmer come and shope there every week end. 238 Two children girls and boy and two grandson. 259 Good time social life,like sports and know a lot coaches at Washington State at those day. 267 Firt year they started build a house at Pullman when they first marry, now the house is about 40 years old. 275 She likes outdoor activities. 278 287 Husband Leave by pass-away 1970 her self at her house. 297 Help out her neighbor with her business problem 300 She keep up with all her husband business work. Have a Chervon Satton and hire college student . • 311 She is a activity lady she don't wanted to be at rodking chair yet. 317 Church Organizesation. 323 She talk about children life now days is very easy than those day. Everythings is changes. Her childhood life was hard she have love and happy. She have a good time speaking English and German Language. She have friends and she enjoy her childhood life.

Description | 58 minute oral history with Lydia McKarcher, conducted for a Women in the West (HST 398 course) at Washington State University. Discusses her parents life in Russia, immigration to America and migration to Washington state. Early education; stayed after school for help from teacher and later attended Business College in Spokane. Talks about the food her family preserved by pickling, making jam, milling flour and making yeast. She worked in a large store in Pullman where she meet her husband, they opened a gas station and built a house together. |

Digitization | Original audio cassettes were converted to wav files using Audacity and a USBPre interface. Mp3 files were then created from the wav files for online access. Film clips were created as mpeg-4 files using Adobe Premiere Elements 9 to add selected images to the wav audio files, and then converted to flv files for online display. Print documents were scanned to 300dpi pdf format using a Xerox Workcentre 5030 copier/scanner. |
