The new ay scales come out for teachers and everyone recertifies . Teachi in Troy • Oregon. Joined tbe WACs in 194o, stationed i!>n -Long Island and took care of mental patients. Belongs to the American Legion now. She can' t understand the l ack of support given to these victims of the war. What the rest of her family did in the war. Got out of WACs . Entertainment on the farm incl uded the radio a Will Ro ers. More on entertainment. They were Menon1 tea from Swi uerland, but they did ·. not act this way. ,,..;,,. • ... ".>·

Description | 105 minute oral history with Martha Wurgler, conducted for a Women in the West (HST 398 course) at Washington State University. Family dairy farm in Pullman with many modern conveniences that included electricity for the house and barn, indoor plumbing, and telephone all of which benefited the family by reducing many time-consuming chores and provided more leisure time. Discusses the importance of hard work and family while growing up with all the opportunities that she has had as a teacher and volunteer for the WAC (Women's Army Corps). |

Digitization | Original audio cassettes were converted to wav files using Audacity and a USBPre interface. Mp3 files were then created from the wav files for online access. Film clips were created as mpeg-4 files using Adobe Premiere Elements 9 to add selected images to the wav audio files, and then converted to flv files for online display. Print documents were scanned to 300dpi pdf format using a Xerox Workcentre 5030 copier/scanner. |
