Description | 174 minute oral history interview conducted with former Washington State University student, administrator, and Alumni Association President Robert "Bob" Smawley. Interview recounts Robert Smawley's experiences as both student ('52) and employee. Mr. Smawley has held numerous important positions here at WSU from his first position in 1953 as Athletic Ticket Manager and Cougar Club Manager to Assistant to the Vice President for University Relations the position he 'retired from' in 1993. Other positions Mr. Smawley has held over the years include Manager for University Purchasing, Director of General Services, Director of the Performing Arts Coliseum and Director of University Relations. Mr. Smawley has also served as both President and Treasurer of the WSU Alumni Association. After retiring in 1993 Mr. Smawley has continued to work part time as an assistant to the Director of WSU Alumni Relations. Mr. Smawley is known throughout WSU and Pullman as the resident WSU historian and is in demand for his powerpoint presentations or slidewhows which highlight the long and storied history of WSU. |
