A view looking at the west facade of Old Science Hall . A solitary figure walks across the dirt landscape in the foreground of the image . Old Science Hall , WSU building #33 , was designed by G . W . Bullard (also the architect of Ferry Hall) and built in 1899 at a cost of $60,000 . Old Science Hall housed the botany and zoology laboratories , and a veterinary operating room also used for livestock judging competitions . When Old Science Hall's functions were taken over by New Science Hall in the 1930s , it served for a time as the Arts building and is currently occupied by the Edward R . Murrow School of Communication
