Description
A view of the front entrance to the recently-completed Morrill Hall , WSU building #24 . Landscaping is now present with trees and hedges placed around the building ; a pair of street lamps frame the entrance . Morrill Hall was named for Senator Justin S . Morrill , whose bill of 1862 provided for the foundation of land grant institutions . Begun in 1901 , it remained unfinished until 1903 due to legal problems that temporarily halted all building funds . Designed by Josenhans & Allen at a cost $33,000 , Morrill Hall originally served as the chemistry building (until the construction of Fulmer Hall) . An innovative feature of the structure was the placement of the general laboratory on the top floor to provide better ventilation .
