Description |
Benefited by New Deal to Indian wards in 16 colonies: Billy Holbrook, 70, who was blinded by trachoma, and his granddaughter who acts as his guide, in front of the canvas-covered cabin on the Pyramid Lake Reservation in Nevada, where he lived for many years. In picture at right, they are shown outside his new home, built as part of the Federal project to bring adequate housing and sanitary conditions to 6,000 Indians in colonies stretching from Death Valley, in California, to Oregon and Idaho in the north. |
