300 Indians attend Parely. - Some 300 Indians, representing 12 Pacific northwest reservations, gathered here today as the North American Society of Indians. Leaders of the gathering are Peter James, Lummi Indian, president; Wilfred Steve, Tulalip, secretary; Johnny Hawk, Union City, and Charles Wilbur, Swinomish, treasurers. Charles Jules, 90, Tulalip chief, spoke on the treaty of 1855. |
