Saw Spokane for first time 40 years ago / "Jack" Harris, on anniversary of coming, recalls infancy of city . Forty years ago yesterday J. A. Harris, better known to Spokane people as "Jack" Harris, arrived in Spokane, which was then "a broad space in the road with between 165 and 170 inhabitants, and no railroads or bridges, with the exception of Nine Mile and Spokane Bridge, according to Mr. Harris. |
