These men were once at helm of city government Long before the commission form of government was adopted here the three men pictured above were at the helm of city affairs from 1892 to 1896. The three men have passed on, but their descendants remain in the city. At the left is W. R. Marvin, in the center Frank Kizer and at the right W. W. Witherspoon. Mr. Marvin was the father of Mrs. W. C. Jones, W1801 Riverside, and of Will Marvin, rancher at Colville. Frank Kizer was the father of Ben Kizer and Don Kizer, both prominent attorneys. W. W. Witherspoon was the father of Attorney A. W. Witherspoon, Charles Witherspoon, Mrs. C. H. Hord and Mrs. F. O. Paulsell. At the time of the big fire of August 4, 1889, W. W. Witherspoon was head of the volunteer fire department. |
