Deaths should lower in mines - total is 19 in Coeur d'Alene mines - 486 accidents during year - During the last year there were 19 fatal accidents in or about the mines in the Coeur d'Alenes, as compared to 24 in 1917. This represents a proportionate loss of 4.22 men per thousand employed, or one man lost for 86,447 shifts worked, the records showing 4500 men to have been employed at the mines, working a total of 1,642,000 shifts. |
