Rescue scene at Montana mine where two men died |
Description |
Rescue scene at Montana mine where two men died - The bodies of Antoine Gustafson, 40, and Oscar Gevart, 45, miners, were taken from this tunnel, entrance to the underground placer workings of teh Deep Creek mine, 16 miles south of Superior, Mont., where they were buried by a cave-in Saturday night. This view was taken Monday morning as rescue crews totaling 100 men were feverishly working in the vain hope of getting the men out alive. The CCC workers in the foreground are shoving the water-soaked muck along the sluice boxes, after the mine car had dumped a load into the head box. |
