Metaline region booms as mining center - This is a map of the most talked of mining district in Washington, the Metaline, which also extends across the Canadian line. The vast holdings of the Pend Oreille Mines & Metals company, the big producer of the district, are shown in vertical shaded lines. This company controld the Reeves MacDonald across the line and the Metaline Metals across the river from its main holdings. Metaline Mining & Leasing is being developed by American Zinc company, which also is developing Grandview. Metaline Contact ground is owned by S. W. O'Brien of Spokane. He has a working agreement with the American Zinc company. International Lead & Iron, adjoining Reeves MacDonald, is owned by Harry H. Shallenberger of Spokane. The international line crosses just at the south boundary of the International Lead & Iron. |
