Strike secret kept for years . Discoverer injured on reaching 16-foot vein of metals, he relates. Sandpoint, Idaho, Jan. 21.-E.H. Hammond, prospector and miner, who has been in this district for 27 years, came into Sandpoint this morning with the story of a big strike in his Grouse creek mine, made three years ago, but kept a secret. He declared that he was injured shortly after making the strike, a 16.5-foot vein of gold, silver, and lead, ad that because he was unable to work on his discovery himself he did not tell any one of it. |
