Belle is one of the main cogs in big creek mine. |
Description |
Belle is one of the main cogs in big creek mine. - Without "Belle" a wise old horse of no little understanding, operations would be at a standstill at the Metropolitan mine on Big creek in the Coeur d'Alenes. Edward Echlund, mine foreman, purchased the 16-year-old animal a couple of years ago at Burk for $15, after her former owner had refused to sell at $75 because he feared the first prospective purchaser wouldn't treat old "Belle" so very well. |
