Historical review of Bunker Hill mine |
Description |
Historical review of Bunker Hill mine . Idaho, like most of the other western states, began its mining history with the advent of the placer miner. Among the first gold discoveries in what now comprises the state of Idaho was that made by members of the survey party of Captain John Mullan, in 1858, as they were surveying out a road across what is now the northern part or panhandle of Idaho, from Spokane Falls to the Bitter Root Valley, in Montana, which road was to be a link in the military road extending from Fort Walla Walla to Fort Benton, at the head of navigation on the Missouri river. |
