U.S. may enter mine business . Pope bill would force government into smelting field at same time. As relief measure. Could start new operations and lease private properties-to be non-competitive . Washington, Jan. 29.-The United States government would be forced into the mining, smelting and refining business in a big way, or to the extent of $100,000,000, by a bill introduced today by Senator Pope of Idaho. |
