Exploration work here holds attention of mining men - All mining men in the Coeur d'Alenes, especially those in any way interested in any of the many development projects in the so-called south fork belt, are waiting daily for the result of the deep exploration in the Polaris mine being opened by the Hecla Mining compay. If the epected rich ore of Polaris is found here, it will give renewed stimulus to a dozen other enterprises in teh district. This picture shows the entrance to the tunnel which the Hecla company is driving from the Silver Summit mine into the POlaris ground now held by the Hecla company. When it reaches the POlaris it will be 1040 feet below the surface. THe photograph comes from the office of Howarth company, Wallace brokers. |
