Contracts have been let by the federal shipping board for 4,000 ships with net dead weight carrying capacity of 8,000,000 tons, Raymond B. Stevens, vice chairman of the board, told the members of the Academy of Political Science at the opening of their 37th annual meeting here today. He thought that at least 6,000,000 tons would be available next year. |
