Invited to Take
Part in Program
Mrs. Walter Hembree of Portland,
chairman of the scholarship loan
fund board of the Oregon Federation of Women's Clubs, has been in-
yited to take part in the program for
the educational loan fund breakfast at the council meeting of the
General Federation of Women's
' Clubs this month. The breakfast is
planned for April 28 in Tulsa, Okla.,
ivhere the council meeting will open
on April 26.
The invitation has come to Mrs.
Hembree, as chairman of one of
the outstanding loan funds in the
general federation, from Mrs.
George Norman Campbell of Ka-
lama, Wash., its chairman of scholarships and fellowships. She is one
of six state representatives asked to
participate in the program and was
invited to speak particularly about;
Oregon's plan for making its loans
in installments at the beginning of
^each school term.
Because Mrs. Hembree is not well
^this' spring she is unable to make
the trip to Tulsa. She will be represented at the breakfast, however, by
^OMrs. Saidie Orr Dunbar, Oregon's
^candidate for the general federation
presidency, who will speak in explanation of the Oregon federation's
^entire scholarship loan fund plan.
Battleship Oregon club No, 6 of
the Navy Mothers of America will
entertain at tea on Tuesday afternoon, beginning at 1:30, on the mezzanine floor of the Portland public
market on Southwest Front street.
The party, for which Mrs. V. W.Hansen, commanding officer of the
Jfelub, is making arrangements, has
been planned to interest prospective
members, mothers who have sons in
the United States navy or marine
! corps and whose sons are enlisting
for service now. During the afternoon Mayor Carson will speak on
early plans for Fleet week next
summer, when the navy mothers
will be particularly active.
The women's auxiliary to the
American Society of Civil Engineers
will entertain at a dessert supper
and card party next Saturday night
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sam
j Murray, 3568 Northeast Couch
! street, for both resident and visiting
; members of the society.
