Uses for Coulee power |
Description |
Uses for Coulee power. - Dr. J. Koster, in charge of the United States bureau of mines electrometallurgical testing and research plant at Reno, Nev., brought a message of cheer and importance to the Northwestern Mining association Friday. He said that "cheap power will be the solution for this region. The government is endeavoring to develop production of chromium, manganese and aluminum in the northwest, where these metals are to be had economically, assuming there is cheap power." If a plan for the electrometallurgical treatment of the alunite aluminum deposits in Utah is worked out, he felt the method could be applied to the clay bodies north of Spokane for their aluminum content. |
