Yakima Wants to Be First Class. Will Take Special Count of the Population in Hope of Getting Results. The committee appointed sometime ago to confer with the city commisioners regarding a special enumeration of the population of the city in the hope of its being eligible for first class designation, will meet with the commissioners next Monday. The committee is representative of the best interests of the city and consists of: Robert Rundstrom, Leo O. Meigs, Alex Miller, C.E. Udell and F.A. Duncan. They have secured charters of several cities of the first class for comparison and pattern, and hope to present a sufficiently strong array of facts to prevail on the commissioners to order the count of the urban population at once. Should the city come under the legal desgination of first class, the main benefit to the community would be the enlarged capacity to issue bonds for improvements.
