D'Elia to Exhibit Rogers Painting At Bon Marche
Antonia D'Elia, Italian painter,
will exhibit a life-sized painting of
the late Will Rogers, actor and
humorist, for a week in the Rose
room of the Bon Marche department store, beginning tomorrow.
D'Elia worked on the set of "The
County Chairman," a motion picture which starred Rogers, and decided to paint the humorist with
an English setter, Newbert, which
appeared in the picture. Rogers
once said to the dog: "If you only
knew how well-bred you were you
wouldn't speak to some of us,"
D'Elia recalled today.
The artist painted the exhibit
picture after the actor's death and
now is making a national tour
with it.
