USE U. S. AIRPLANES FOR ALASKA MINES
JUNEAU, Alaska, Sept. 1. UP)—Employment of the army and navy flying personnel and equipment In the development of Alaska's mineral resources was advocated here today by Rex Beach, noted author, shortly before he took off for Lemesurier island, from where his old friend and guide, Joe Ibach, had radioed him "the fishing is good." The army and navy could, he believed, aid development of mining districts by aerial mapping expeditions and later help in the transportation of equipment and prospecting units to youths with mineral knowledge,
which would serve the dual purpose of relieving unemployment and increasing the population of the territory.
