COOK INLET RUN RED SALMON IS ON FULL FORCE
Seldovia Canneries running capacity after light hauls
The delivery of 18,000 fish from Cook inlet traps and gillnets to a single Seldovia cannery last Saturday, signaled the beginning of the run of reds that packers have been waiting for.
Consistent deliveries of few hundred fish caused some apprehension as to the outcome of the season, and as it is it can hardly be hoped that with the late start full packs can be obtained, encouragement has taken the place of keen disappointment, and packers are buoyed with the
hope of lively windup that will bring packs up somewhere near fair average.
Quantities of Kings
First delivery of any size was 12,000, chiefly reds, with announcement that 8,000 were left in traps for the next lift.
The larger canneries, Kenai, Snug Harbor and -Port Graham, it was stated thru reliable reports, were receiving deliveries in proportion.
A feature of the deliveries this season' is the quantity of kings that come with each lilt.
