Burglars at Seward, Alaska, Frightened Away by Postmaster.
SEWARD, Alaska, Nov. 18. OP)— Burglars were frightened away last night after attempting to force entrance to the postoffice, in which
$240,000 worth of gold dust was stored.
Awakened by noises near the building. Postmaster Charles Sheldon arose and armed himself, stationing himself near a door to await the entrance of men working on the door. In moving about, he upset a chair and the men fled from the scene.
They had succeeded in boring a series of holes about the lock.
