ALASKA AVIATOR BRINGS GOLD AND ROBBERY NEWS
Anchorage, Alaska, Sept. 25.—(/P)— Pilot Ralph Savory landed here today with 129 pounds of gold from mines in southwestern Alaska and news of a trading post post office robbery by a bandit wearing a flour sack mask.
Savory said the bandit held-up the post office at the Sleitmut trading post on" the Kusokwi river, bound and gagged Nich Millich, postmaster, and escaped with $2,000 in currency.
Savory said a wide search was being made for the bandit who could escape by only two routes along the Kuskowin river which is surrounded
by impenetrable swamps.
The trading post consists of only a handful of whites and a few natives. Savory belittled the importance of his "flying mint," valued at $50,000,
and said he often carried more than $100,000 in gold.
